Our client, a FTSE 250 listed manufacturer of high performance polymers, was experiencing problems with the upper belt on a double-press cooler conveyor. The belt had three weld seams, which is the maximum number recommended before a replacement is required. As a result, the belt had become distorted, leading to an inconsistent and inadequate surface finish on the product. This was affecting the overall quality of the product and indicated that having reached the end of its serviceable life, the belt was likely to fail if left in service.
Continuous Process Solutions recommended replacing the existing belt with the spare belt that was already held in stock. Replacing the belt proactively would prevent an unexpected breakdown, reduce the risk of unplanned downtime and restore the conveyor’s performance and the quality of the product’s surface finish.
Although the belt was from another manufacturer, Continuous Process Solutions honoured the existing warranty, guaranteeing all of the work carried out, yet offering a significant cost saving for the client on contracting the original manufacturer to install. We also ordered a replacement belt from our production partners, Mingke, to ensure that there was a spare belt in stock.
Continuous Process Solutions attended the site and carried out the belt replacement over a five-day period. During the work, we also thoroughly cleaned all conveyor components to minimise the risk of contamination and ensure the equipment was returned to a clean and fully operational condition. This helped improve the reliability of the conveyor and maintain the quality of the finished product.
